Amidst all my freelance work and various creative projects, as some of you may know, I somehow find time to act as an editor for the website Short of the Week. I’ve been on the SotW team since 2012 and it’s been an incredibly rewarding experience. Not only have I gotten the chance to exercise my critical literary muscles (yeah, useless English degree!), I’ve learned an incalculable amount about short film as an artistic medium. I’ve also been fortunate enough to connect and work with some very talented people.
Today, Short of the Week officially relaunched with a brand new website layout. As with all major online re-launches, this one is quite jarring: the site looks very, very different. And, while that new look, initially, might make you long for the WordPress template of old, I advocate that you give it a shot. The new site aims to create a streamlined viewing experience for short films across all platforms. In other words, it’s meant to be a simplified portal where you can easily watch great content anywhere.
This is the fourth iteration of Short of the Week since it first started in 2007. But, it’s the only refresh that has occurred since I’ve joined the team. So, sit back, relax, and watch some great bite-sized content. In the meantime, I’ll do my best to keep finding it for you.
